York City Fans' Darts Tournament

Since the formation of the York City Social Club Darts Team
a few years ago, the York City Fans' Darts Tournament has become
a regular event in the Social
Club during the summer months.
Newcomer Patrick Makin, was the winner of last year's event
and has now become an active member of the York City Social
Club Darts Team. He would now like to defend his title. So,
it's now time to announce details of the 2008 York City Fans'
Darts Tournament …
It will take place on Saturday 7th June (mid afternoon into
the evening) in the York City FC Social Club.
Primarily, the event is open to any City supporter over 18 years
old (due to the nature of the prizes on offer). However, entrants
under 18 years old will be accepted, if they are accompanied
by a parent or guardian. We hope that individuals and members
from the various YorkCity supporters' groups will take part
and make this a fun social event during the summer break.
The initial stages of the tournament will be on a round robin
basis. So, players of 'limited ability' will still play plenty
of games. The later knock out stages will see the best players
competing for the main trophy and prizes. However, that will
not be the end of the tournament for those who don't qualify
for the main event. They will proceed to a secondary knock out
competition with its own, slightly less glamorous, trophy and
prizes.
The prizes are still being finalised but will definitely include
a pair of hospitality tickets for a YorkCity home game in the
2008/9 season, lots of beer and trophies for the winners to
keep. There will also be a new trophy, including the names of
previous winners, which will remain on display in the Social
Club as proof of the winner's darts ability.
If anyone wishes to sponsor the tournament and receive some
exposure for their business (in the build up and at the event)
in return for a financial donation to cover the costs or provision
of items which could be used as prizes, please contact the organiser
(see contact details below).
As with the previous tournaments, entry to the event costs £5
per person. Included in the price is food, which will be provided
in the late afternoon by Domino's Pizza at Clifton Moor. Payment
will be accepted on the day of the tournament.

For these games, the Social Club will be open from 8pm. Please
feel free to come along and support the team.
