York City striker Richard Brodie scored twice and Stuart
Elliott, Onome Sodje and Emmanuel Panther were also on target
as the visitors recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory at Sheffield
FC on Wednesday evening.
York City recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory at current Northern
Counties East League Premier Division champions Sheffield FC
in their latest pre-season fixture on Wednesday evening.
Striker Richard Brodie led the way with a double, and Stuart
Elliott, Onome Sodje and substitute Emmanuel Panther were also
on target.
The Minstermen's ranks included two teenage trialists from Leicester
City - Andy King (midfield) and Carl Pentney (goalkeeper).
Winger Martyn Woolford forced a save inside the first minute,
before the visitors took the lead four minutes later when Sodje
raced down the left and crossed for BRODIE
to head in from point-black range.
Goalscorer Brodie (three times), Sodje, Alex Meechan and Woolford
each went close to increasing their advantage, while Woolford's
15-yard effort also found the base of an upright.
York finally added to their tally in the 41st minute as midfielder
ELLIOTT struck home a fierce 15-yard drive
following another swift break by Sodje.
Former Charlton Athletic forward SODJE then
netted a third two minutes later with a composed finish after
seizing upon Mark Robinson's long through ball.
Bustling striker BRODIE forced another save
immediately after the interval, before collecting Elliott's
delivery into the area on 62 minutes and calmly sidefooting
the ball into the bottom corner.
The Minstermen went on to claim a fifth goal three minutes later
as Brodie crossed for substitute PANTHER to
convert from close-range.
