50/50 Cash Draw

Just like a pre-match pint in the Social Club, buying your match day programme or filling up with a hot meat and potato pie, the 50/50 Cash Draw is an important part of the match day experience at York City Football Club.

What is it?

The 50/50 Cash Draw is the football club’s official match day raffle and gives supporters the chance to win a significant amount of cash. A prize of just under £300 was the average in the 2006/7 season.

How does it work?

Buy your tickets before the game. They cost £1 each and you can buy as many as you like.
Listen to the announcement of the result from the draw by the special guest on the pitch at half time.
If you are the winner, collect your prize from the lottery / programme desk in the Club Shop after the game (unless instructed otherwise)

It’s easy.

Who can enter?

We aim to sell tickets to supporters in all areas of the ground, including the away supporters, sponsors and boardroom guests. However, entrants to the 50/50 Cash Draw must be over the age of 16 years old.

Where can I buy a ticket?

There is a committed team of 50/50 ticket sellers who turn out in all weathers to ensure that you can buy your tickets. From around 90 minutes before kick off, they are predominantly situated in the car park just beyond the Club Shop. Other sellers can be found just beyond the turnstiles at the ‘home’ end of the ground, wandering around the hospitality suites and in the Social Club in the hour before kick off. Look out for the bright yellow bibs with ‘50/50 Cash Draw’ across the chest!

Why should I enter?

Every penny is vital in York City’s battle to regain a place in the Football League. By supporting the 50/50 Cash Draw you could be contributing to raising around £8,000 per season to help that cause. At the same time, you are giving yourself and fellow football fans the chance to win a bundle of cash which could pay for a holiday, buy Christmas presents or even buy your York City season ticket for the following season!

Can I help?

We are always keen to hear from potential new 50/50 sellers to enable us to sell in other areas of the ground or provide cover for the absence of other sellers at certain games. If you are interested in offering 60-90 minutes of your time on match days, please see the contact details below.

What’s new?

In the 2007/8 season, the 50/50 Cash Draw will also become a feature of Reserve and Youth matches being played at Bootham Crescent. Although the cash prize is obviously not going to be as substantial, it will still be worth the ‘investment’ of buying a £1 ticket.

In recent years, cinema tickets and vouchers for pizzas have been handed out as consolation prizes. In the 2007/8 season, a hot pizza and bottle of cola is being delivered at half time by Domino’s Pizza at Clifton Moor as a runners-up prize. The winner of this prize needs to come and collect this prize during the half time interval or it will quickly find an alternative home!

In future there will also be more special runners-up prizes at selected games. For example, at the Cambridge United game in August 2007, club sponsors and suppliers, Country Products from Tockwith, donated a hamper of their dried fruit and nut products as a prize.`

Even if you don’t win a prize, keep your ticket safe, as it now includes a 20% discount voucher for Domino’s Pizza at Bishopthorpe Road or Clifton Moor in York. The value of your discount will probably be greater than the cost of your 50/50 ticket. So, everyone is now a winner!

There will now be a greater level of communication between the 50/50 Cash Draw and the supporters (including away fans). Look out for more posters around the ground, messages in the match programme and articles on this website.
